    Early October (1-4 October)

    How the season works

    Twelve teams play a single round-robin Opening Round, then split into a Top 6 and Bottom 6. Points reset for the Closing Round, which repeats the process. If one club wins both rounds they are champions outright; otherwise the title is decided in a Finalissima or Final Four. Floriana are the reigning champions, having beaten Marsaxlokk 2-1 in last season’s Final Four final.

    Rolex Middle Sea Race 2026: Where to Watch the Start from the Grand Harbour

    One of the most spectacular sights of the Maltese year is free to watch. The 47th Rolex Middle Sea Race starts from the Grand Harbour on Saturday 17 October 2026, with yachts from around the world crossing the start line against the backdrop of Valletta’s UNESCO World Heritage fortifications.

    The race

    Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club, the Rolex Middle Sea Race is a 606-nautical-mile offshore classic. The fleet sails an anti-clockwise loop of the central Mediterranean: from Malta up to Sicily, past the Aeolian Islands (including the active volcano of Stromboli), then the Aegadian Islands, Pantelleria and Lampedusa, before returning to the Maltese islands.

    Where to watch the start

    The whole Grand Harbour becomes a grandstand, and the best views are free:

    • Valletta’s bastions: the Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens and the area around the Siege Bell Memorial look straight down onto the start area.
    • Across the harbour: the waterfronts and fortifications of Birgu and Senglea give a view back towards Valletta, with the yachts in between.

    Arrive early to get a good spot along the walls. The classes start in waves, so there’s plenty to see once the first boats are away. Check the official race website for the start schedule on the day.

    Make a day of it

    About Pro Wrestling Malta

    Pro Wrestling Malta (PWM) was founded in February 2014 by Wayne Pace, known in the ring as “The Maltese Warrior” Gianni De La Valette, who trained and wrestled in the UK and Europe because Malta had no training centre of its own. PWM describes itself as the island’s first and only pro wrestling promotion. It runs a training academy, holds regular shows and stages three major events a year featuring local and international talent. Its very first show, “Il-Bidu” (The Beginning), took place in July 2015.

    Fall Brawl

    Fall Brawl is one of PWM’s big annual nights and returns to Montekristo Estate, where last year’s edition was also held. Expect high-flying action, heated rivalries and a loud crowd. It’s built as a night out for friends and families alike. Match announcements usually come from PWM in the run-up to the show, so keep an eye on their channels.

    Montekristo Estate, at Ħal Farruġ, is a multi-venue entertainment estate opened in 2005, with around ten indoor and outdoor venues, and it is a regular home for big nights out in Malta.
