VBET Malta Premier League: Fixtures and Tickets, 9-14 October

The VBET Malta Premier League returns after the international break with a packed round of fixtures from Friday 9 to Wednesday 14 October 2026: including a top-four clash between Birkirkara and Valletta at Ta’ Qali.

    Fixtures and kick-off times

Gżira United v Mosta is the rescheduled match-day-six game, postponed earlier because of bad weather, which is why both clubs have a game in hand.

    The table so far

After six rounds of the Opening Round, Floriana and Valletta are level at the top on 13 points, with Marsaxlokk third on 11. Birkirkara, Ħamrun Spartans, Mosta and Sliema Wanderers are tightly packed on 10, and Balzan sit on 9. At the other end, Żabbar St Patrick and Hibernians have 5, Gżira United 1 and Birżebbuġa St Peter’s are still looking for their first point.

    How the season works

Twelve teams play a single round-robin Opening Round, then split into a Top 6 and Bottom 6. Points reset for the Closing Round, which repeats the process. If one club wins both rounds they are champions outright; otherwise the title is decided in a Finalissima or Final Four. Floriana are the reigning champions, having beaten Marsaxlokk 2-1 in last season’s Final Four final.

The VBET Malta Premier League returns from the international break with a heavyweight fixture: Birkirkara FC v Valletta FC at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali on Saturday 10 October 2026, kick-off 15:30.

    Two clubs with serious pedigree

Valletta are among the most successful clubs in Maltese football, with 25 league titles: the most recent in 2018-19. Birkirkara, “The Stripes”, are four-time champions (2000, 2006, 2010 and 2013) and six-time FA Trophy winners, most recently in 2022-23. They play their home games at Ta’ Qali and are coached by Paul Zammit, appointed in January 2026.

When the sides met last season, Valletta won 2-0.
